New Zealand and India business ties
India is New Zealand’s most developed relationship in South Asia, and its importance to New Zealand is growing, reflecting India’s expanding economy and global influence. The foundations for the relationship are sound, and are based on shared values, and strong Commonwealth and people-to-people links.
NZTE has offices in Mumbai and New Delhi which support New Zealand businesses and promote commercial links between New Zealand and India, predominantly in the specialised manufacturing, premium food and beverage, aviation and technology sectors.
Ralph Hays is New Zealand’s Trade Commissioner and Consul-General in Mumbai, and leads leads NZTE’s activities in south India and Sri Lanka.
Ralph has served with NZTE for seven years, including time as New Zealand’s Trade Commissioner to Brazil based in São Paulo, and as a Business Development Manager for Spain and Portugal based in Madrid. He is fluent in both Spanish and Portuguese.
Before joining NZTE, Ralph worked in the finance and health sectors in New Zealand, Australia, the United Kingdom and Spain. His previous experience includes working as a management accountant in the airline industry for five years, and as a business analyst in the cruise industry.
Ralph hails from Invercargill, New Zealand’s southernmost city, and holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Massey University.
