New Zealand and
Saudi Arabia business ties
With the largest economy in the Middle East and wide-ranging plans for modernisation, Saudi Arabia offers a wide variety of opportunities for New Zealand businesses.
Two-way trade between New Zealand and Saudi Arabia now totals $1.25 billion annually, with Saudi Arabia ranking as New Zealand's second-biggest export market in the Middle East.
NZTE opened an office in Riyadh in September 2014, and this team has since grown in line with New Zealand’s increased trade with Saudi Arabia. The office also services Oman, Bahrain and Kuwait.
Based in Riyadh in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Ahmad Zakkout is responsible for NZTE’s activities in Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain and Kuwait. He was previously a Business Development Manager in NZTE’s Dubai office, focussing on agri-technology, specialised manufacturing and construction.
Before joining NZTE, Ahmad was Sales Manager at International Data Corporate (IDC) in Dubai, with responsibility for the Middle East, India and Africa. He has also been involved in a number of start-ups in the UAE.
Ahmad holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Jordan University and an MBA from the University of Wollongong, Australia.
